Introduction:
As we experience our daily lives, we find that we have choices to make. Hindsight may well inform us if we made the best choice. Are there times when we are so blind to the possibility that choices exist that we miss the opportunity that presents itself?

Best Choice
Best Choice

Scripture:
My Lord, if I find favor with you, do not pass by your servant. Gen. 18:3.
O LORD, who may abide in your tent? Ps. 15:1.
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell. Col. 1:19.
Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her. Luke 10:42.

Pass me not, O gentle Savior
Fanny Crosby (1868).
performed by Don Moen.

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Prayer: Lord God of justice,
your word is light and truth.
Let your face shine on us to restore us,
that we may walk in your way,
seeking justice and doing good. Amen.
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Randy Rothwell
Lenny LeBlanc

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary for You

It is you, Lord
Who came to save
The heart and soul
Of every man
It is you Lord
Who knows my weakness
Who gives me strength,
With thine own hand.

Prayer:
Friends in Christ,
God invites us to hold the needs of our sisters and brothers
as dear to us as our own needs.
Loving our neighbors as ourselves,
we offer our thanksgivings and our petitions
on behalf of the church and the world.

Hear our prayers, God of power,
and through the ministry of your Son
free us from the grip of the tomb,
that we may desire you as the fullness of life
and proclaim your saving deeds to all the world. Amen.

Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross
Fanny Crosby

Jesus, keep me near the cross;
there a precious fountain,
free to all, a healing stream,
flows from Calvary’s mountain.
Refrain:
In the cross, in the cross,
be my glory ever,
till my raptured soul shall find
rest beyond the river.

Prayer: Dear Lord, God of Abraham and Sarah,
in due season, you fulfilled a promise almost too wonderful to imagine.
Awaken us to the workings of your will in our midst,
and keep us attentive to the things that matter,
until the day when Your mystery,
hidden throughout the ages,
stands fully revealed in the kingdom of all Your saints. Amen.

Sitting at the Feet of Jesus
Wesley Pritchard
performed by Gaithersburg Band

Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
Oh, what words I hear Him say!
Happy place! so near, so precious!
May it find me there each day;
Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
I would look upon the past;
For His love has been so gracious,
It has won my heart at last.

Everyone is Welcome!

Valentines Day Reflection introduction:
Saint Valentine (Valentinius) is a believer and a physician who was imprisoned and persecuted for his faith and coming to the aid of fellow believers in 270 A.D. Valentinius is recognized as a saint by the Lutheran and other Christian Churches. History supports that social behavior in Mid-February gives way to Celebration of Love. What Love Do We Speak of? For God so Loved the World, that He Gave His Only Begotten Son, that Whoever Believes in Him Shall Not Perish, but have Eternal Life. John 3:16.
Deuteronomy 26 witnesses to us that our redemption is found in the Lord’s faithfulness to His Word.
King David brings us a hymn of thanksgiving in Psalm 91.
In Rom. 10, Paul interprets Deut. 26 for us. The Lord’s Good News will grow inside of us.
In our gospel lesson, Luke instructs us that our ability to resist temptation comes from the Lord.

Prayer:
God of justice, I take this opportunity to remember all those Christians who lost their lives in your name. I pray that you may reward them for being selfless and truthful to your word. Bless the families they left behind and forgive their enemies. May you set aside a special place for them in heaven for they have passed the test and lived the faith. The Bible tells us that whoever stands by you on earth has a special reward in heaven. May you give our martyrs a worthy reward and let them be an inspiration to our lives. Amen.

Valentines Day Reflection Scripture:
You shall celebrate with all the bounty that the LORD your God has given to you and to your house. Deut. 26:11.
Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name. Ps. 91:14.
No one who believes in him will be put to shame. Rom. 10:11.
Do not put the Lord your God to the test. Luke 4:12.

God Moves in a Mysterious Way
William Cowper (1774).

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.

Prayer:
Lord of the living,
through baptism we pass from the shadow of death
to the light of the resurrection.
Remain with us and give us hope
that, rejoicing in the gift of the Spirit
who gives life to our mortal flesh,
we may be clothed with the garment of immortality,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Name of All Majesty
Timothy Dudley Smith
performed by the Grace Baptist Sanctuary Church Choir and Praise Orchestra

Name of all majesty, fathomless mystery,
King of all ages by angels adored;
power and authority, splendor and dignity,
bow to His mastery – Jesus is Lord!

Prayer:
Lord of deliverance and freedom,
you taught the people of Israel
to acknowledge that all things
come from your bountiful hand.
Deepen our faith
so that we may resist temptation
and, in the midst of trial,
proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord,
now and for ever. Amen.

Let Me Call You Sweetheart
Leo Friedman and Beth Slater Wilson (1910).
performed by Pat & Shirley Boone

Let me call you Sweetheart
I’m in love with you
Let me hear you whisper
That you love me too
Keep the love light glowing
In your eyes so blue
Let me call you Sweetheart
I’m in love with you.

Epiphany Celebration

Epiphany Celebration Introduction: Epiphany concludes our Twelve Days of Christmas Festival. It is now the magi arrive bearing gifts and Scripture proclaims the Child King, Son of Man, Future Leader, Bearer of Salvation for believers. We will be saved by His blood shed in obedience to the Father. The world as we knew it, know it and shall know it will be transformed. Amen.
In this passage, Isaiah introduces the prophetic future success of Zion, which will unfold in parade fashion appealing to the senses, upon rising from the ravages of war and despair, for it will come as the Lord wills it.
In this Psalm, David commands us to accept and worship the Lord as Savior as His will be done, not ours. We will follow Scripture into the future as we see the Christ child grow into adulthood and incorporate the aspirational qualities of leader into the examples He sets forth for us.
Paul has so much knowledge to share with us.

Scripture:
Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1.
Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to a king’s son. Ps. 72:1.
In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. Eph. 3:5.
They saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Matt. 2:11.

We Three Kings of Orient Are
John Hopkins (1867).
performed by Jennifer Avalon

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star.

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light.

Prayer:
O God of light and peace,
whose glory, shining in the child of Bethlehem,
still draws the nations to yourself:
dispel the darkness that shrouds our path,
that we may come
to kneel before Christ in true worship,
offer him our hearts and souls,
and return from his presence to live as he has taught. Amen.

Joy to the World
Isaac Watts (1719).
performed by Pastor Loran and His Church

Joy to the world! The Lord is come!

Prayer:
Guide us on the path of salvation, O God,
that the radiance and power of your Holy Spirit
working in the world
will gather together all peoples and nations in one community
to offer you worship and proclaim your splendor. Amen.

Come Gracious Spirit Heavenly Dove
Simon Browne (1720).
performed by Jerang and Johann Kim

Come, gracious Spirit, heav’nly dove,
with light and comfort from above.
Come, be our guardian, be our guide;
o’er ev’ry thought and step preside.

Prayer:
Bright Morning Star,
your light has come,
and the birth of Jesus
has overwhelmed us with joy.
Like the magi of long ago,
may we be drawn to you
and offer you such gifts as we are able. Amen.

What Child is This (Greensleeves).
W. Chatterton Dix (1837).
performed by Josh Groban.

What Child is this, who, laid to rest,
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
