Dad and Jesus Fuel Rockets Devotion

Teacher, How do we bridge Scripture and the realm of science in youth ministry?
We may choose a creative example inspired by Scripture through the working of the Holy Spirit in the Rockets Devotion for Youth.
With a timely tribute to Father’s Day, Dad can engage this one and be a model teaching example to youth.

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Presentation Theme Guidance.
Discuss how the rocket is only seen by a few people when it is on the ground, but when it has the power and launches, it is seen by many people all around.
When we have the power of the Holy Spirit inspiring us, we are able to be a greater witness to all nations (people).

Isaiah 40:28-31
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

Presentation Theme Guidance.
Talk about when we pray for God’s help, He gives us all the strength that we need on the inside to do what He asks us to.
We are also able to go farther, higher and accomplish goals once we have recieved His strength.

Zechariah. 4:4-6
4 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my Lord?” 5 Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my Lord.” 6 Then He said to me, “This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts.

We are like rockets when it comes to serving The Lord. We need high power fuel.
The Holy Spirit brings us strength and inspiration.
The Lord tells us to rely on His spirit.
We have The Lord’s spirit in us.
We choose to do something pleasing to The Lord.
We rely on The Lord’s power.
Stand back while we do something powerful for The Lord.
What do we do?
What can we do to serve The Lord this week?
Remind the youth to show everyone their high power fuel rockets and what they do to serve The Lord.

Closing Prayer.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Dear Jesus,
For our youth all over the Lord’s bountiful creation,
as precious believers in You,
Please give our youth the patience to wait on You,
Please send them the Holy Spirit,
so You may lead them in the path of righteousness and
they may soar like rockets to engage your call.
For all who lead youth in ministry,
May The Lord bless you and guard you,
May The Lord show you His favor and be gracious to you,
May The Lord show you His kindness and grant You His peace.
Amen

Believers Walk in Fellowship with Jesus

Teacher, why does it feel so rewarding to get together with people for Fellowship in the Park, Worship, Celebration and Festive activities?
We experience peace, hope, love and joy in society through our belief in and relationship with our Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
We are created by The Lord in His image. The Lord loves us, His children. He sent His only son, Jesus, to show us the way; so that we could die to sin, be reborn through Baptism, Confession, Penance, Absolution and experience Jesus’ love for us through His gifts of Grace and Salvation.
Luther teaches us that we become believers in Jesus through the inspiration and strength that we receive from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enlightens and calls us. Book of Concord, ed. Robert Kolb & Timothy J. Wengert (Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 2000), 355.
We receive inspiration that fills us with such joy, we witness our belief in the Word to all nations (people). We receive satisfaction in doing good works in the name of Jesus that are pleasing to The Lord as we pursue our calling in life through inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
Scripture
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matt. 22.
“Receive the Holy Spirit!” John 20.
“For wherever two or three people have come together in my name, I am there, right among them!” Matt. 18.
Prayer
Dear Lord, In the glorious name of Jesus, we come before Your throne of mercy and grace asking You to please inspire believers, your children, with Your divine abundance of love, inspiration and strength through the Holy Spirit, and bless us with fullness in Your love while we teach and live Your holy Word. Amen.

Memorial Day Monday

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
On Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.
The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
The Memorial Day federal holiday was known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war.
The practice of decorating soldiers’ graves with flowers is an ancient custom.
In the religious observance of Memorial Day, we turn to Martin Luther, of War. Treatise on the Peasants’ Revolt: Admonition to Peace.
May God be praised! For the very fact that the sword has been instituted by God to punish the evil, protect the good, and preserve peace [Rom. 13:1–4; I Pet. 2:13–14] is powerful and sufficient proof that war and killing along with all the things that accompany wartime and martial law have been instituted by God. What else is war but the punishment of wrong and evil? Why does anyone go to war, except because he desires peace and obedience?
Martin Luther AE. 46.
Let us pray …
Dear Jesus,
We pray that you turn the hearts of all people, military and civilian, to your example where we find true peace. Please inspire us to know, take hold and treasure your gifts of Grace and Salvation. In Your Name, our Blessed Savior, who gifts us peace, hope, love and joy for eternity, we pray. Amen.
