Afterward, All are Welcome to the Fellowship Dinner Table to eat a Light Healthy Meal.  Today’s menu is called Salmon and Pork Brunch and Vegetables.  Plan for goodness! Come and enjoy!

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged

Judge not, lest ye be judged Matthew 7:1.

is a famous biblical phrase where Jesus warns against hypocritical, harsh, or condemning judgments.

Instead of a total ban on all discernment, it calls for humility;

challenging people to address their own deep flaws before criticizing others.

  • Watch the Hypocrisy:
  • The verses immediately following the famous line (Matthew 7:3-5) use the metaphor of a speck in someone else’s eye versus a “plank” in your own. It’s a warning against being hyper-critical of others while ignoring massive faults in yourself.
  • The “Measure You Use”:
  • Biblical scholars note that Jesus is warning that the standards you apply to others will ultimately be the same standards applied to you by God.
  • Righteous Judgment:
  • The Bible doesn’t command us to abandon all discernment. Companion verses (like John 7:24) advise to “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment,” encouraging evaluation of actions for the sake of correction and accountability, rather than condemning the person’s character. So you better be certain! There is a wise old saying, “Do not let the door kick you on your way out!

MYOB mind your own business 

We all know a few people who can benefit from this free advice. Pastors, Parents, Teachers, Therapists all recommend a good dose of this medicine from time to time.  

The Bible directly tells people to  

“mind your own business” in  

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12.  

In these verses,  

the Apostle Paul encourages believers to: 

  • Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life.  
  • Mind your own business.  
  • Work with your own hands.   

Why does the Bible say this? 

The passage outlines three main reasons  

for this advice:  

  1. To be self-reliant:  

 Focusing on your own responsibilities allows you to take care of yourself without being a burden or dependent on others.  

  1. To earn respect:  

 Minding your own business and avoiding idle gossip or meddling earns the respect of “outsiders” (people outside the faith).  

  1. To show love:  

 By taking care of your own duties, you respect other people’s boundaries and live peacefully within the community.
