Miraculous Healing Introduction:
There is much uncleanliness that begins today’s gospel lesson. Luke paints a picture that is worth a thousand words. The man possessed by demons is freed from their grip. He is grateful. Now the villagers who came to witness this exorcism want to be left alone without the presence of Jesus. They are scared. The formerly possessed man will proclaim Jesus as the Son of God.
In Isaiah our Lord God is willing to pay dearly to be with His people. Even though as Gods people we are immature, emo, and much less than perfect, our Lord God waits for us with open arms.
Our Psalm mirrors Isaiah in full concert with the meaning of the phrase the Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor.
Paul assures the Galatians that they are Children of God, Saved through their Faith and NOT due to the Law.

Shepherd Me O God
Marty Haugen

Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants,
beyond my fears, from death into life.

God is my shepherd, so nothing I shall want,
I rest in the meadows of faithfulness and love,
I walk by the quiet waters of peace.
Miraculous Healing Scripture:
Here I am, Here I am. Is. 65:1.
Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me. Ps. 43:3.
In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. Gal. 3:26.
Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you. Luke 8:39.

Cry of the Poor
John Foley, SJ.

Prayer: Beckoning Lord God,
as you moved in the lives of Elijah and Elisha,
move in our lives,
inviting us to journey to unknown territory,
to listen for your voice,
and to speak your prophetic word
in a world that does not want to hear.
empowered by your Spirit,
grant us the courage we need
to journey, trust, listen, speak,
and accept your commission
to be your faithful servant people. Amen.

Let Us Break Bread Together on Our Knees
– performed by First Christian Church

Let us break bread together on our knees.
Let us break bread together on our knees.

When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

Prayer: Lord God our refuge and hope,
when race, status, or gender divide us,
when despondency and despair haunt and afflict us,
when community lies shattered:
comfort and convict us with the stillness of your presence,
that we may confess all you have done,
through Christ to whom we belong
and in whom we are one. Amen.

Will the Circle be Unbroken
Ada Habershon (1907).
– performed by Randy Travis

I was standing by my window
On a cold and cloudy day
When I saw the hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away.
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord, by and by
There’s a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

We are all stewards spreading the Word of Jesus’ blessings for His people.
